There are plenty of reasons why you may find yourself in a bit of trouble with floods or an excessive amount of water entering your home. When this happens it is very important to get to work quickly. In most cases, the water isn’t just going to dry out and you need to get it removed as quickly as possible. Before we can actually restore floors or carpets we are going to need to get everything as dry as possible. We are going to go over some of the most common steps that we take when we have to handle flood and water damage!
Stop The Bleeding
When your home or business is flooded due to heavy rains or things like that, you can pretty much tell where the problem came from and there really isn’t much that you can do. You just have to get everything dry and be better prepared for the next rainy day. In other cases, though floods are caused by leaks in your water supply system. The first thing that we need to do is make sure that water won’t continue to leak into your home. Otherwise, it really won’t matter what we do to fix the problem!
Pumping Out Floors & Carpets
There is usually a two-step process that we get through when we dry out floors and carpets. If the water gets to the point where it literally is a couple of inches off the ground we are going to need to come in and pump the water out. We have all of the necessary equipment to pump out water from a surface the size of an inflatable to pumping out water from an aquarium tank so you really won’t have to worry too much about our capacity in that regard.
What To Do When The Water Is Gone
At times we come into places where the water has not reached a considerable level and we will just start the work at this stage. What we want to do is bring in different types of fans and heater like machines that are going to completely dry out your floors and carpets. What we want to achieve at this stage is to completely eliminate any traces of water. When we are done we don’t even want to feel that a small area is still a little damp. If it is we may have a bigger problem!
Repairing Floors & Carpets
This part of our job is certainly the hardest. A lot of times we want to dry everything out and leave everything as it was. Sadly, on different occasions even though we remove all the water and dry everything out the damage has already been done. In these cases, we may have to remove flooring and carpets to allow the surface underneath them to get some breathing room. We may have to go in and repair a couple of things here and there and then ultimately install new floors! We even do smoke and fire restorations!
